it may be best to drop the subject here, we all support roger as he has demonstrated that he is a decent bloke.
any further comments may not be helpful when he goes to the tribunal.

I appreciate your concerns Keith, I really do and I thank you for them, but I do not and have not expected Barry to become involved in this.
There are things, as in all walks of life, where the oxygen of publicity is not always helpful and this is one such case.
The truth will out and when a line has been drawn under this, the Chamber of Commerce will come out stronger than they have been for some time.

BARRYW/ROGER
I have no real concerns over the outcome, only to see fairness across the board.
At the moment it's difficult to judge as we have only Rogers view.
I have attended many such cases myself BAZ so it';s not a matter of stiring anything up.
Roger's a nice guy, and like in other posts I hope to be able to give some advice.
As I say Iv been there many times myself so if i can help roger i will.
of course as usual Roger is able to take this advice or ignore it.
that's his choice.

Keith - you do like to stir things up.
You have been told before that due to my personal and business links with Roger I played no part whatsoever in the matters concerning Roger.
It would have been totally inappropriate for me to get involved in any way. As for your other comments/speculation - that is for and must be left to the tribunal to decide, a process in which I have no role.

I do underrstand Roger, are you represented in any way?
obviously we are not in possession of the paper and facts and how they are worded.
I would be surpriized if Barryw allowed letters to go out stating Roger would be paid £24,000 knowig they probably couldn't finance it.
Also the verbal agreement not sure how that will stack up, having seen the c of c replies so far, i can't see the c of c agreeing they made any such verbal agreement, and how can it be proved
will be interested in outcome

Hopefully, the truth will out; if not, it won't be just me who suffers.

With regard to your postings going to employment tribe. have you got representation?
Is it a full hearing, or a premilimary hearing?
In not sure(having been through many such hearings in m#any different places, not sure how your case will stack up as a VERBAL agreement of course it will come down the3 man panel.
Will be interesting to see case put forward by the c of c.
We could see your pal barryw giving support to c of c
as its chair, surely he will be called?

Hello Lorraine. I'll be following the link you supplied tomorrow, which will be my next possible occasion.
To find my article, you can type Celtic Dover in Kent on Google, and it will come up as the first result.
I am also on the first page of Google, Yahoo and Bing under Dimitri Alexander, and a number of my articles are on the second page of Google under the same name.
Lorraine, if you are interested in writing for Suite 101, they are looking for writers, and there are many topics to choose from.
If you are interested, just let me know on this front page, and I can explain on the members blog how it works, and how the articles have to be built up. If you are in Dover, it won't be hard to meet somewhere.
Otherwise you might be able to find out directly from Suite 101 by reading the tutorials. It's a great way to build up a writer's profile and to promote world-wide one or more topics you are interested in.

It's done! I've noticed that Kent is associated world-wide to gardening, as most of the Google adverts on the Suite 101 article are about gardens and gardening. Although I wrote about Kent, I didn't nebtion gardens, but evidently the world-wide networks automatically conect Kent to the Garden of England!

I appreciate that the meeting last night (Thursday) regarding the future of DHB - to give its correct title, not the one Mr Goldfield insists on. at DTC is and should get major coverage and be the subject of debate. However, there are other 'gems' that we a losing one fo which is a major access to our history.
East Kent has a wealth of local history - ours can be traced further back than anywhere else in the County. Dover, as one of the main ports of entry to England for thousands of years, features well. Further, because our town’s forebears got their act together early, our documented history is second to none. These, together, with supporting arguments justified KCC Archives having a satellite section on the Whitfield Business Park. Indeed, if memory serves me correct, DDC contributed towards the cost.
Sometime ago KCC decided that the Archives should be housed in a brand new building at Maidstone and to cut cost, the Dover branch had to close.
At Dover, library Local Studies section is no longer in the hands of librarians who held as much knowledge in their heads as there is in the various cabinets. I hasten to say here, that the present librarians work very hard, are incredibly helpful and show amazing patience even when confronted with ‘awkward’ punters. Albeit, the emphasis dictated by County is functional such that the atmosphere is not always what it use to be.
In the light of what has happened to the Archive Centre at Whitfield and the changes at the Dover Local Studies section, one cannot help wondering how long it will be that Dover will have the latter?

His plan I am sorry would not work any money we put in would not have a return in our pocket, and there is not the time to work it all out we are looking at less then two years before it is sold off,and we are looking at about £1billion or more, the public of Dover would not give up £10 or more to his plan and he went on to say how the rest of the funding could be got but it is all one big "If".I have alot more to put into this but i am off the Hos/so will be done later.

She's missing them like crazy...

Best of luck with the Tribunal. I believed (and still do) that you were the right man for the right job. The way you were treated was disgraceful in my humble opinion.
Are you sure you didn't resign to concentrate on your business interests in Singapore and Sydney....lol. Dover High St must appear very run of the mill in comparison to those exotic famous locations.

I will find this very difficult to make comment as I am taking the Chamber of Commerce to an Employment Tribunal for non payment of salary from November 24th. to March 24th. when Alan and Cameron MacSween sacked me - there's no other word for it.
I did not resign over a £9,500 salary - reduced (on a whim ?) from an agreed £24,000 to this £9,500; I was sacked - pure and simple.
I responded to an advert in the Dover Express (29th. of October)for a Business Support Manager for the Dover District Chamber of Commerce.
I attended an interview on November 6th.
On November 24th. at the launch of Dover Business Suppport, Cameron Macsween announced to the world that - and I quote:
"David Foley and Alan Shirley interviewed candidates who responded to our advert for this role, and I am very pleased to announce that a very enthusiastic and able person has been selected - Roger Walkden".
A verbal contract of employment existed between Cameron Macsween and myself - made during many talks during last summer. Alan knew the salary was £24,000 - I helped to write the DBS Business Plan.
The Business Plan for Dover Business Support, submitted to Dover Town and District Councils, as well as Dover Harbour Board, quite clearly stated a salary of £24,000 pa. Not an intended one for the future, but for now.
An email from Cameron Macsween to The Town Clerk at Dover Town Council quite clearly states that the salary is £24,000.
There was an expectation from me to receive a salary and an expectation from the Chamber of Commerce to pay one.
Alan, who I always respected, has now stated that I said I was a volunteer; this is completely and utterly untrue - so untrue I would swear it on my son's life and Jean's.
I have never said I was a volunteer - never.
I could go on and talk about the evening of my sacking; it would certainly make interesting reading, but for now........
I waited five years for the opportunity to work for Dover and the businesses here in an official "paid" capacity; I would NOT have resigned over a measly £9,500, especially when there was £19,500 on the table and rest would have so easily been made up to the £24,000 from signing people up to DBS.
I'm going to stop now as this could cause even more damage to the Chamber and that is not necessary - should not be necessary.
Why does Alan feel he wants to wash the Chamber's dirty linen in public ? In an attempt to get out of paying me the salary I should have been paid ?
There's is an Employment Tribunal hearing in November and Alan will called as a witness; it would be against his personal and possibly business interests and that of the Chamber to "kiss and tell" or make up more stories.
I am (putting it mildly) surprised at this.
