The DISNEY MAGIC leaves for Stavanger in Norway

Pictures taken yesterday evening sunday around 6pm.

If Disney see that post below Vic no 2750 you might get an invitation to look around on her next visit. Hope so.

Sue yes that would have been during the time when both yourself and David were wearing the golden chains of hi-flying officialdom and representing Dover in fine style.

Colette yes those demos are very disrupting...this latest one was tiny, but required hundreds of police as one just doesn't know how many demonstrators will turn up. Shame that it affects local business. ( more below in 2747 )
Yes the horses are super!

I had the pleasure of being entertained on a Disney ship a few years ago.I recall David Hannent and I had admiring glances as we took to the floor and showed off our dancing skills!

Lovely to see the 'Disney Magic' back in town SmileySmileySmiley

Great to see the photos as I avoided going down there because of the demonstration but it seems it was only a tiny demo after all. Even some businesses closed yesterday, I needed a key for a property from one of our leading estate agents but they had closed shop & worked from their Folkestone branch instead. It really is a terrible state of affairs Smiley

Beautiful Horses!!! Smiley

Some pictures here from the much vaunted demonstration yesterday...but as you can see there was only a tiny minuscule turnout. The number within the police kettle was 24...well I counted them three times..twice my total came to 22 and the third time 24, so lets be generous and go with 24. There appeared to be several hundred police...many more police out of shot, stationed at all vantage points, intersections etc. A massive expense once again for the taxpayer.

The good news is....the marchers, shouting "no more refugees", were kept off the main highway and restricted to the seafront. The nations artery was not blocked this time. A thumbsup for that. The police did a good job. PaulB.

The DISNEY MAGIC is in Port today. Smiley

Some pictures above there of the AIDAsol arriving this morning about 07.40. Light was good and visibility a considerable bit clearer than it is currently. The Saga Pearl II had arrived just minutes earlier, there she is below....so we had a busy busy half hour or so with the hard working tugs on the case.

Thanks for all that info Mike and the pictures.
There is or will be heightened security for the arrival of the American ship guys...
I remember the extra measures last year with added patrol boats etc etc.

The pronouncement from DHB is that the pier is closed to protect anglers from the people protesting the other end of the promenade!!

Further to Paul’s very nice view of the VALIANT in post 2741 here she is coming in to berth on the DAVID CHURCH’s berth on Friday morning.

Also, just about visible thru the haze, a view of the work taking place on the Prince of Wales pier at the edge of the hoverport.

For folk planning to see the DISNEY MAGIC from the Admiralty Pier on Sunday -

After hearing rumours I found a post on Dover Sea Angling’s Facebook page saying that the whole pier will be closed from 2000 today, Friday until 0800 Monday morning.
I don’t see any announcement on the DHB website.

This is a bit unusual - normally the pier is closed beyond the turret when a cruise ship is on Cruise-2, the DISNEY MAGIC must be even more security-conscious than other ships.

The AIDASOL & SAGA PEARL 2 are due in on Saturday.

Disappointing for the shipwatchers but disastrous for the anglers who are not allowed to fish off the beach inside the harbour & the only alternative, Shakepseare Beach, is closed due to the seawall repair works.
Perhaps it will be temporarily re-opened for the weekend if no work is going on.

And speaking of all things Valiant, here we are with another picture of the dashing vessel...she has been 'sleeping' off yours trulys observation tower for the past few nights. Still there as I write..but this picture is from Wednesday evening as the palest of pale suns was going down on a long day.

Below we have one of our old friends the Elsebeth from a couple of days ago....pictures show her arriving.

You cut quite a splendid image at the helm there Neil in 2714...Sarah's picture that.
Also a well done once more to the Channel Rowers. That is quite a sum of money raised. See 2736 and 2739.

FERRY CAPTAINS COMPLETE CHARITY ROWING CHALLENGE FOR MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATIONSmileySmiley
________________________________________________________________________________________

Four DFDS Captains row 22 miles to raise over £16,500 for children and young people

After months of training and preparation, four DFDS ferry captains yesterday took to the seas to row 22 miles from the Dover Rowing Club, the equivalent of rowing across the Channel from the UK to France.

The team, Paul Mount, Steve Cockerill, Ryan Booth and Mark Miller, all ferry captains at DFDS, have already raised an impressive £16,500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation thanks to generous company, staff and public donations.

Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children and young people with life-threatening conditions, providing them with memories to treasure forever.

DFDS Captain and row team member, Paul Mount, said: "We were delighted to be able to row the 22 miles to raise money for such a worthwhile cause, and hope that the funds raised will go some way to helping children and young people affected by life-threatening illnesses.

"On behalf of DFDS, the team and I want to thank everyone who has donated so far, and with the pledge to triple the amount raised, we’re urging the public to dig deep for such a great cause."

Another one above of the fabulous Harmony of the Seas, the worlds biggest and latest cruise liner as featured in the post below page 2723. She was returning to Southampton through the drizzle yesterday after her first small tester cruise. Yours truly managed to get just a couple of shots before she more or less disappeared into the mist.

You must see also Ed's scoop pictures of the ship below page in post 2723.

Thanks to Mike for giving me the heads-up as the huge ship approached yesterday.

Below we have the Costa NeoRomantica departing last evening around about 8pm.

Nice story that below Ed. Well done to those guys. Great stuff indeed! Always good to see 'human interest' stories like that for sure.

Well done with those pictures further below Mike. Great work there.
