A stunning collection of Lifeboat pictures from Sarah in the series of posts below...well done with those Sarah, really ace pictures and great to see. I can add a few Lifeboat pictures to the mix now . These once again were taken yesterday but unfortunately a bit long range.
It was a wild oul day yesterday and no mistake...you wont need me to tell you that. But out into the wild wild weather went our lifeboat crew here in Dover as well. Once more into the breach as it were, out into the rough and tough tumble of Storm Imogen. The top two pictures are looking into the distance across the top of Admiralty Pier...you can see guys fishing on the pier in the foreground. It was a hugely bracing day to be on the pier but there we are...at some parts of the day a chap could hardly stand upright. But out into all that wild weather went the Lifeboat...
It looked like the Lifeboat guys were on an exercise initially but then the game changed a bit...as the HM Coastguard helicopter arrived off Dover, it hung in the air very low and very close to the waves, almost stationary for a time and then the Lifeboat went out to join it. Whether the game had changed at that point it was hard to tell...was there some problem offshore?
Yes indeed Vic they all do a great job in all weathers. Well said!

Some great photos of the lifeboats both in Dover and Ramsgate,and what a great jobs the crews do ,when you look out on nights like tonight with winds up to 90mph and big ships do not go out of port but the small life boats put out in all weathers maned by unpaid crews 24/7 and also do a day job on top of that that takes some beating so a very big thank you to all of the crews of the lifeboat that are all round the UK.

At last it was lovely sunny weather today so I was off to the harbour to see what I could photograph. 
First up is one of our wonderful Pilot Boats - Estuary Warden.
Next both the Ramsgate Lifeboats went out on exercise. ALB is Esme Anderson, Trent Class, ILB is Claire & David Delves, Atlantic 85 Class.
The exercise then moved on to Broadstairs, so I jumped on the first bus & got there just in time.

Not bad for a sleepy friday
While I was just fetching out the David Church from the system I spotted this one below of the same vessel from a previous time. Obviously in the pic below the weather conditions were much nicer. Its all very colourful and you can see the coast of France quite clearly...but note the funnel cloud in the sky above. Never a dull moment eh! PaulB.

As you will have noted from the earlier posts she was having some difficulty a day or two ago but now all seems well.

pictured here just passing yours trulys 'observation tower'.
Yes indeed Mike the times they are a-changing but we can still get good shots. Re the banana boat....the experiment was short lived as the novelty soon wore off!!

Windfarm crewboat CWIND ENDURANCE in the Tidal Basin, Wednesday afternoon.
She had come down from Ramsgate.
Not so easy now to take decent photos of craft on the waiting pontoon since the swingbridge carpark, which gave a much better ‘angle’ has been permanently closed.
Interesting photo of the ELSEBETH - wIth a little more jiggery-pokery you could have produced a really banana-shaped banana boat !

CALAIS SPECIAL:
KEEPING OUR BORDERS SAFE AND SECURE....by Charlie Elphicke MP for Dover and Deal.

The situation at Calais is of grave concern to us all. Migrants have tried to rush the port and some got onto a ferry before the boarders were repelled by the ship's crew. Migrants daily seek to stow away onto lorries and the haulage industry is calling for the army to be sent in. The conditions at the camps in Calais and Dunkirk are dreadful. Hard left militant anarchists from Britain are agitating in the camps and seeking to inflame an already bad situation.
This is an even bigger problem because the Dover to Calais route is critical for our international trade. Every time a stowaway gets on a lorry the load has to be thrown away. Lorry drivers who pick up a stowaway get heavily fined, so the haulage industry is forced to invest in expensive detection equipment and park up in secure lorry parks.
What then is to be done? Some will say the easy answer is simply to leave the EU. There are many good reasons to make that case. Yet our border security is not one of them. If we left, the border would surely move from Calais to Dover. The migrants at Calais would no longer be in Calais and this would take Dover back to the dreadful situation of some years ago.
Others say we should simply open our borders and allow everyone in. The same people also argue that we should take the nuclear defence out of our nuclear submarines and hand the Falkland Islands over to Argentina. These are all very bad ideas - they would undermine our national security, our border security and the safety of us all. The return to the bad old days of the open door to Britain that used to exist before 2010 would be a danger for migrants too, for once you allow anyone to wander in, more will seek to follow.
Attracted by the magnet of an open border people will make ever greater and more dangerous efforts to enter Britain. As we have seen before, this all too often ends in tragedy. This is why the Prime Minister is right in saying that we should take vulnerable people in need from close to the nations they have been forced to flee in order to discourage the making of long, treacherous and dangerous journeys.
The situation at Calais is serious. We need better security for hauliers in Northern France. We need to ensure our border remains in Calais and is not brought back to Dover. We need to keep working closely with the French Government to increase security. It would be a wrong turn to go back to the days of open borders where anyone could just wander into Britain. We need to be particularly wary not to encourage people to make dangerous journeys across Europe.

That's the stark warning from the Road Haulage Association chief executive Richard Burnett. "We have today received photographs from a haulier on his way to the Port of Calais that clearly show that Calais and its approach roads are, quite literally, becoming a war zone. Despite this, the French authorities still are not taking the action that is now desperately needed and action that the thousands of hauliers using this vital trade route are desperate for.
"We have already warned operators to make sure their drivers know not to stop within at least 100 miles of Calais. But if a brick is thrown at your truck on the final approach road and it hits your windscreen, you have no alternative but to stop. And if you stop, the trucks following are also at risk. You and those behind you instantly become a sitting target for the hordes of migrants whose sole aim is to reach the reach the UK, regardless of the consequences for HGV drivers. This situation cannot be allowed to continue.
"These drivers want no more than to do their job, unhindered and in safety. This is not happening. We are demanding that the French government responds to our call to deploy its Army as a matter of extreme urgency.
"It is inconceivable that the death of a truck driver may be the only catalyst for this catastrophic situation to be addressed."

Above we have the new DFDS SEAWAYS livery on show again...this time the new paintwork dons the Delft Seaways. We featured the Dunkerque Seaways with the new paintwork previously. The top shot shows her leaving a near empty Port and the second one shows her out there in the channel heading for Dunkerque...long range shot that one. Our nautical correspondent is probably onboard there.
To cheer us all up in these grey times we have added the shot below taken last week. Sometimes we need a bit of colour in our lives...and this is it!

Brian yes indeed the traffic was backed right up on Saturday for several hours..an extraordinary situation. One is all for democracy but...
The top picture in 2357 tells the story...it looks like a ghost town 100 metres from the busiest of busy Ports.

DEMONSTRATION SATURDAY!
Above we have a quiet standstill. All is empty, all is deserted...save for one lonely policeman on his metal steed. But this is the main highway to and from the nations Port, the Port of Dover. This is the UK's main highway to continental Europe where we do £1billion pounds worth of business every year through our ferries.. And its strangled. The time of the picture is Saturday afternoon 2.12PM or 14.12hours if you prefer. These roads would normally be seriously busy and why are they not busy on this particular Saturday...
...well here's the reason below.
