Following on from Ed's ace picture of Southern Bay at the cargo terminal yesterday...
here are a couple of shots of her leaving yesterday afternoon about 4.30PM in wild conditions. it was bright with good visibility but very rough indeed. Both tugs were in action and the second shot shows Dauntless returning after another job done.
And speaking of rough and wild...this pic below shows the seafront yesterday morning with a biting wind whistling in from the east. The waves take this formation when the wind comes in from the east, from the Russias...it was enough to whip the skin off that famed rice puddin' again. A bracing walk along the seafront yesterday was not for the fainthearted...Nosiree Bob!
Great pictures again below Sarah. Ace work!
As I said at top of post that was a smashing picture of Southern Bay Ed.
Well done again Mike... I meant to mention that we had AIDA Sol in yesterday...
Always good to hear from you Del...those politicians can be very annoying for sure.

Nice glint on the AIDASOL on Wednesday morning as she swung for Cruise-2.
Notice anything different in the harbour recently ?
The CORALWATER has been in Rotterdam for a few days & has been replaced by the COASTALWATER.
Here she is on the Thames on 30/9 - almost sister-ships.
The windmills have been erected in Tilbury Docks by the PLA to irritate ship-photters at Rosherville, just across the river.

All the pictures below are heavily computerised as yours truly was plagued by visibility problems yesterday. The photos, or probably more like drawings, are of barge Charlie Rock again as it made its way into Port about 08.30 yesterday morning with the help of tugs Afon Goch and this time Doughty. The third picture down shows what the standard shot was like.... grrrr !
I cant see it but I guess the barge is now over at the Eastern arm of the Port.
At 3PM I was lucky to spot Lifeboat Margaret Jean heading off to Ramsgate. Once again the visibility killed off useful pictures save for the two below. If I zoomed in any closer all detail was lost. Even though the visibility was better than it was in the morning it still hampered the procedure and the outcome..
Great stuff below there from Ed and Mike
fascinating pictures all round. Glad you got those shots of the Margaret Jean Mike. Good clarity there. That was a good one of HMS Kent too.
I just put the MPs comments up Del when they relate to nautical stuff, this time the Dover Patrol.

Quite what this operation is I don't yet know. Two vessels have been anchored off Calais for days or maybe weeks, one discharging into the other. The larger one is the Curacao Pearl and the smaller is the Tiger. Photos below show them on two consecutive evenings. Rumoured that they are transferring rocks.

Well Mr Elphick,
His latest press release confounds me - yet again! I'm baffled by his thought processes. Somehow building more walls in France will insulate us from the people fleeing war torn countries is denying reality. However - I don't have to get re-elected - maybe I would say the same in his situation in a marginal seat. Bit political - don't mind if you delete this contribution!

I was tasked by a certain lady in Ramsgate to photograph a certain lifeboat in Dover on Tuesday.
12-21 was duly photted before her run back to Ramsgate which may have been a little bumpy as the wind was getting up.
Harbour Patrol vessel DIRECTOR passed by & paused for a chat.

I was asked if we had any more pictures of 'Le Twister' and indeed we do...and there we are above. A truly awesome sight from Saturday morning. I've seen a number of funnel clouds out in the channel and most don't touch down, but this one of course did in dramatic style. It all looks great....ermmm as long as it doesn't come in here !

And now MP Charlie Elphicke calls for a new Dover Patrol...will it happen. It would be great so see...
We need a new Dover Patrol to catch traffickers on high seas
_________________________________________________
Last weekend three migrants in a dinghy landed on the beach at Walmer. They were spotted by a man out walking his dog. Visiting the scene I was left deeply concerned that there will be a tragedy on the English Channel with rougher seas as winter approaches. The three men in a boat turned out to be Iranian and have claimed asylum.
So it is welcome that President Hollande this week said he will dismantle the Calais migrant camp. Yet we’ve heard it all before. Last time, the French Government made a half-hearted attempt and dismantled a small section. The numbers simply grew ever more quickly to the current 10,000. It is vital to the future of Dover and Calais that the Jungle is dismantled.
It is no good President Hollande seeking to play the blame game on this dreadful situation. He says Britain must "play its part" in managing the migrant crisis. Yet we have already made a strong financial contribution. British taxpayers have paid tens of millions of pounds for walls and fences in Calais.
It’s now a greater priority to invest in border security at Dover – to find people who are being trafficked and contraband at our docks. The arrival of yet another dinghy from France highlights the need to invest in security on the English Channel too. Migrants are found landing on the beaches of Dover and Deal in small craft on a monthly, if not weekly basis – who knows how many more arrive undetected?
What is needed is a clear plan on which both the British and French Governments work together to put an end to this shameful situation for once and for all.
The Jungle should be properly dismantled and the people there moved to places of safety far from Calais. President Hollande says this will happen and it is welcome. Yet they need to be sure the people there won’t simply sneak back to Calais.
The migrants should be helped back to their home nations. Any asylum claims should be processed and failed asylum seekers should be repatriated.
The people traffickers must be targeted. Make no mistake – these evil modern slavers are at the heart of this crisis. Britain and France must work together to target the trafficking gangs and smash their networks. We should protect tourists, truckers and trade at Calais. The attacks we have seen with chainsaw wielding, tree throwing, petrol bombing traffickers are totally unacceptable. There is a real danger of a tragedy.
And we must set up a new Dover Patrol on our English Channel. We should increase the budget for the Border Force and ensure we have more than three ships to guard 7,000 miles of coastline.
With strong cooperation and a clear plan, Britain and France together can restore order at the border for good and beat the people traffickers.
Ending the evil trade of modern slavery is the most important battle of our times.

There you have it... Charlie's view on the current situation.
Just to add these two pictures below. The pictures themselves are not terribly good, shooting into the blinding and hazy light of yesterday morning but here we go anyway. First pic shows the Atlantic Reefer. Just caught her tail as she powered off to Hamburg about 09.30 yesterday morning.
The final one is Wind Server a short time later...she came right in close to Port here yesterday morn and was met by the pilot.
Well done with those pictures below Sarah - ace work.

Green Light For Variable Dover TAP - National Speed Limit To Return
________________________________________________________
Dover District Council is welcoming news from Highways England today that they are investing in a permanent arrangement for Dover TAP (Traffic Access Protocol) introducing a variable speed limit on the A20.
A series of electronic variable signs will be placed along the A20 from the Roundhill Tunnels to Aycliffe. When completed in early 2017, the national speed limit will apply on this section of the A20, unless Dover TAP is in place, when a 40mph speed limit will be enforced. Dover TAP will be controlled by Highways England.
Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access said:
"We are delighted at this news. This is something that we have been campaigning for since the temporary Dover TAP was put in place over a year ago. This, combined with the junction improvements currently taking place, will provide Dover with a more resilient road network to support both the town and the port."
ENDS
That's good news above, particularly for those crawling their way to and through Dover everyday under 40MPH. The potential for a nasty fine if you slip over it is all too real. There doesn't appear to be a date when it is due to stop as such.
And now some pictures of yesterdays visitor the AIDA Aura. I think this is a first here for the AIDA Aura and very welcome she is too.
Great set of pictures from Sarah and Mike below there. You really captured the action there Sarah.
Mike can you put a deposit on one of those waterside flats for me while you are up there in the big city....I take it that yacht comes as an extra.

I also spotted "Valiant" on duty off Deal but it was too far out to get a good enough photo for the forum
